2015 Volkswagen Golf is an IIHS "Top Safety Pick+"

2015 Volkswagen Golf is an IIHS “Top Safety Pick+”

There was exciting news this week for the 2015 Volkswagen Golf models. The new seventh-generation Golf and Golf GTI models, when equipped with the revolutionary forward collision warning system, earned the highly sought-after “Top Safety Pick+” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). In the Phoenix area, the Golf and Golf GTI models are available at Chapman VW Scottsdale.

IIHS is a nonprofit private entity that conducts tests to evaluate the crashworthiness and crash avoidance or mitigation capacity of motor vehicles. Tests include front offset crash tests, in which an average size male crash-test dummy endures a 40 mph collision involving one side of the car, and side impact tests, in which an SUV-sized obstacle is used in combination with smaller crash-test dummies. IIHS also tests bumpers, head restraints and roof strength. IIHS rate vehicles as “good,” “acceptable,” “marginal” or “poor.” To earn a “Top Safety Pick+” rating, the car must earn a “good” or “acceptable” rating in the small overlap front test and a “good” rating for head restraints, the moderate overlap front and side tests, and for roof strength. In addition, it must earn a “basic,” “advanced” or “superior” rating for front crash prevention. The Golf models passed each of these criteria with flying colors.

The all-new 2015 Golf and Golf GTI models are among the safest cars on the road today but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The Golf, dubbed “the modern hatch,” has already been named Motor Trend’s 2015 “Car of the Year,” the highest honor of the automotive world. The Golf wraps everything that Volkswagen does exceptionally well into one modern and versatile package. Fun, sporty and stylish, both Golf and Golf GTI look as great as they perform.

Speaking of performance, VW calls the Golf its “urban thrill ride,” boasting a standard 1.8 litre TSI turbocharged engine that boasts 170 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque while still providing an EPA-estimated 37 mpg on the highway. The all new, lighter chassis is both agile and quick. The available DSG automatic transmission lets the driver shift manually or, in full automatic mode, improves efficiency and provides seamless shifting.

The interior, both roomy and versatile, offers a refined, upscale experience for both driver and passengers. High tech? Golf’s got that. Advanced navigation, color touchscreen, iPod and iPhone integration and rearview camera are just a few of the exciting available features. Versatility and comfort? It’s got that too. The Golf models offer 60/40 split rear fold-down seats for an infinite number of cargo and passenger transport options. V-Tex leatherette seats, interior ambient lighting, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and dual climate control are all available.

So what does this exciting new designation mean to the consumer? It certainly means peace of mind for personal safety on the road, as well as the safety of passengers and other drivers. But it may also translate to saving money on insurance premiums. Many auto insurance carriers charge reduced premiums for those vehicles offering these comprehensive auto safety technology features. For an exhilarating (and safe adventure) experience, drive the 2015 Volkswagen Golf or the 2015 Golf GTI today at Chapman Volkswagen.

VW CrossBlue Concept

VW CrossBlue Concept

Thanks to the news of a potential 2017 VW SUV crossover model, the residents of Chattanooga, Tennessee, have a few new reasons to celebrate… $600 million reasons, to be exact. That’s how much Volkswagen plans to spend in the state to expand its manufacturing plant, to accommodate production of a new crossover model. The German automaker is on a quest to create “a real American” vehicle, according to Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG in Wolfsburg, Germany. In Arizona, Chapman Volkswagen will proudly offer this exciting new model, once it launches.

The new crossover vehicle, as yet unnamed, debuted as a concept model at the 2013 Detroit North American Auto Show. The production version is expected to debut in the 2016 or 2017 model year. The prototype, known as the CrossBlue Concept, has been informally dubbed “The Truckster” by reviewers. It utilizes the MQB modular design, which translates in English to “modular transverse matrix,” so named for the transverse engine mounting. The MQB platform, fully scalable and highly versatile, is being used for a variety of VW models thanks to its dynamic component sharing capabilities.

The CrossBlue concept checked in at 196 inches long, 79 inches wide and 68 inches high, but VW estimates the production model may be slightly larger. At about 305 hp, Volkswagen says the concept tops out at 127 mph and can do 0 to 60 mph in about 7 seconds. Robust hybrid features are sure to provide exceptional gas mileage too. Inside, the concept version was stunning. Programmable TFT screen for driver’s info, 10.2” touchscreen for information and entertainment features, and fold-flat seats for extra storage capacity were just a few of the bells and whistles that dazzled early reviewers. Tons of head- and knee room and iPad docking stations on the back of the headrests were also worth noting.

When the production version debuts, insiders speculate that consumers will be able to choose between a V-6 model, a hybrid, and a TDI diesel engine.

The Chattanooga VW facility currently produces all VW Passat models sold in the U.S. The expansion will further assist Volkswagen in achieving its goal of selling 800,000 units per year in the U.S. by 2018. The crossover is designed to compete with other popular mid-size SUV 3-row seating models, including the Honda Pilot, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Ford Explorer. Local area representatives estimate the new facility will add approximately 2,000 jobs and bring a variety of positive economic benefits to the region. The facility has directly and indirectly generated more than 12,000 living wage jobs, helping build economic stability for Chattanooga and its residents.

Until the 2016 CrossBlue production crossover launches, Volkswagen offers several popular crossover and SUV options. Check out  VW Tiguan in Scottsdale for the rest of Volkswagen’s fun and functional vehicles today!

2015 Volkswagen Eos Final Edition

2015 Volkswagen Eos Final Edition

The 2015 Volkswagen Eos is the perfect hybrid of sports car style and performance combined with upscale amenities. Using the European car ethos, this gutsy little coupe is both solid and smart, offering many standard, premium features not found among the competition. Boasting a power folding hard top with an independently sliding panoramic sunroof, the Eos is a chameleon, capable of accommodating whatever mood you’re in. At Chapman VW Scottsdale, the Eos offers motorists the best of both worlds.

The Eos, named for the Greek goddess of the dawn, is VW’s first available production coupe since the Corrado in the mid-1990s. Its convertible body style is what sets it apart from the competition though, as the hardtop convertible and panoramic sunroof are standard features. The Eos features a 200 hp turbocharged 2.0 litre TSI engine, adding turbocharged horsepower to the long list of in-demand attributes. Its 6-speed DSG automatic transmission features both Tiptronic and Sport modes for even more motoring choices. Rounding out the Eos’ performance features are power-assisted disc brakes, electromechanical power steering with variable assistance and active return, and independent front MacPherson struts. Put it all together and you get an exhilarating, curve-hugging driving experience.

Auto reviewers and Eos owners alike agree that it is the interior and technology amenities that set this vehicle stand out among the crowd. The automatic climate control system, power windows and 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat are just the start. Add 12v power outlets, heated front seats and matte chromium interior trim, and you realize that even its standard configuration is truly special. Dozens of in-demand options are available too, including 2-tone Vienna leather seats with matching door and side trim and a Dynaudio premium sound system (Executive package).

Another thing that the Eos does exceptionally well is tech. The VW Car-Net connected car system is standard, as is RNS 315 navigation with a color touchscreen and SD memory card reader. Bluetooth, media device interface, and SiriusXM satellite radio are all standard as well, with options for a rear view camera (Final Edition package) or park distance control with proximity sensors (Executive package).

Today’s drivers demand safety as well as good design, and the Eos stands out here as well. Active safety systems, designed to reduce the chance of collision, include seven stability-enhancing systems and a tire pressure monitoring system. And because accidents do happen, VW has included a host of passive safety systems on the Eos as well. A safety cage, adaptive airbags, and an intelligent crash response system are standard, along with hydraulic brake assist, electronic stability control, and an automatic rollover support system. Pairing peace of mind with a sense of adventure is the VW trademark. With a base MSRP under $40,000, you can add value to the already lengthy list that puts Eos in high demand.

Volkswagen recently announced that 2015 will be the last model year for the Eos, putting this exquisite example of German engineering on many people’s wish list. In fact, the Final Edition Eos package has already become a collector’s dream. In the Phoenix area, you can see the 2015 Volkswagen Eos at Chapman VW. You’d better hurry though, before this zippy little marvel of design and technology is gone for good!

In a head-to-head comparison, the 2015 Volkswagen Passat is a clear choice for an excellent mid-sized sedan, offering more standard and available features than the Nissan Altima, Honda Accord and Toyota Camry LE.

The new 2015 Passat from Chapman Volkswagen comes with features that expensive imports from Japan and Germany do not. From the Daytime Running Lights to the climate control system with rear passenger ventilation, the 2015 Passat offers more features than the competition.

Powered by a 1.8L inline four-cylinder turbo that makes 170hp, the 2015 Passat gets an estimated 24mpg in the city and 36mpg on the highway. The infotainment system features a 5.0″ touchscreen, HD Radio and MP3 and WMA-compatible CD player with the available Technology Package. LED taillights, a self-dimming rearview mirror, and safety features such as Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution, Engine Braking Assist and Anti-slip Regulation are standard safety features, to keep you and your precious cargo safe.

Tiny fingers pinched in the window are a thing of the past with the Passat’s power windows with pinch protection, and the Side Curtain Protection head airbags are included for both the front and rear. LATCH anchors easily secure child safety seats, while the airbags feature Passenger Occupant Detection. The 2015 Volkswagen Passat is clearly a leader in safety and innovation, making it the perfect choice over the 2015 Altima S, 2015 Honda Accord and the 2014.5 Toyota Camry LE.

Here is a rundown of all the 2015 Volkswagen Passat has to offer:

The 2015 Passat makes technology intuitive and convenient. Bluetooth with audio streaming connects you to your family, friends, and your own music effortlessly. The available touchscreen navigation system can help you find where soccer practice is or it can direct you to the newest restaurant in town. And of course, you’ll feel connected in all the most important ways with available Volkswagen Car-Net connected car features.

Interior Room

In a world that keeps getting smaller, the interior of the Passat stays nice and roomy. The cabin seats five adults comfortably with best-in-class rear legroom that inspires envy in other midsize sedans. It also has cargo space that can handle strollers, enough luggage for a family vacation, or the odd-size new addition to the family room. Roomy enough everyone and their stuff. That’s the 2015 Passat.

Carefree Maintenance Program

When you purchase a 2015 Volkswagen Passat, you’ll receive one year/10,000 mile (whichever comes first) of no-charge scheduled maintenance. You’ll receive service from factory-trained VW technicians who only use Genuine Volkswagen parts on your vehicle. Quality you can trust. It must be a Volkswagen.

Travel Tech

Hitting the road has never been more enjoyable than in the 2015 Volkswagen Passat. Take hold of the leather-wrapped, multi-function steering wheel, which features controls for the audio and vehicle information systems, as well as cruise control settings. The RNS 510 Premium Navigation System with touchscreen helps you find points of interest, motels and gas stations, while the Fender Premium Audio System, boasting 400 watts, nine speakers and a subwoofer, creates a rock and roll experience like no other audio system can. No matter where you go, traveling from point A to B is more enjoyable than ever.

Adaptive Safety Technology

In addition to seven active stability systems, the 2015 VW Passat includes adaptive safety technology such as the Intelligent Crash Response System, which automatically unlocks doors, turns off the fuel pump and turns on the hazard lights when the airbags deploy in the passenger cabin. Adaptive air bags detect if the front passenger is heavy enough to withstand airbag deployment; and the Tire Pressure Monitoring System lets you know when air is needed in your tires, to help avoid uneven tread wear and other tire inflation-related problems.

When we set out to redefine the midsize sedan, power was a strong place to start. And the Passat has that in spades. From turbocharged engines to increased horsepower and impressive driving dynamics, you’ll feel German-engineered performance every time you get behind the wheel. It’s the kind of driving experience that might make you go in search of curvier roads or at least consider taking the long way home.

Volkswagen Car-Net provides a seamless link between your car and your iPhone®, Android® device, or computer, so you can stay synced and supported on the go. VW Car-Net keeps you connected with your VW even when you’re apart.

Safe and Secure

The Safe and Secure feature offers that extra dose of security by supporting you every step of the way. With Automatic Crash Notification, Roadside Assistance, and Manual Emergency Call, now your car always has your back.

Family Guardian

The Family Guardian features include Boundary Alerts and Speed Alerts. You can keep track of how family members are driving your VW so you can have some predictability in an unpredictable world.
