Lighter, More Nimble than Jetta Predecessor

The all-new Golf SportWagen is the latest member of the Volkswagen Golf family. Scheduled to begin sale at Chapman Volkswagen and other U.S. dealerships in April, the new SportWagen is 137 pounds less than its Jetta predecessor and will come in a variety of models including a clean diesel that gets 43 miles per gallon on the highway. Sportier than compact SUVs, the SportWagen is perfect for consumers who need plenty of people and cargo ability but want the fun that a finely tuned VW can deliver.

Golf Version Longer, Wider, Lower than Jetta

Built on the new Golf platform, the new SportWagen is not only more fuel-efficient than the Jetta, but is also larger. It’s longer and wider stance adds up to a more aggressive look while delivering more interior room.

Exterior Easily Recognizable as Volkswagen

The distinctive lines and design elements of the new Golf SportWagen are unmistakably Volkswagen. The sloped hood and angular front design come directly from its Golf lineage. The SportWagen deviates from other Golf models with its unique rear-end that features a wide rear window, two-part taillights and a big tailgate that provides ample room for loading cargo.

Ample Interior Room for Kids or Adults

With 94.3 cubic feet of interior room and 35.6 inches of rear legroom, the new SportWagen makes a great vehicle for a family or commuter carpool. Even the base S model comes with enough creature comforts to make a pleasurable driving experience. Standard leatherette seats, power windows, locks and mirrors are all part of the base package. Controls are mounted on the steering wheel to let you change the audio or navigation. SportWagen also has a standard infotainment system on all models that has a 5.8-inch screen with an optional navigation system. SportWagen Safety Features Protect Precious Cargo

With both active and passive safety systems that include six airbags and driver assistance, the Golf SportWagen is designed to protect your family in the event of a crash. A driver assistance package warns you in the event of an oncoming collision through both audio and visual means. Post-collision braking technology takes over in the event of a crash to help avoid further collisions and additional property damage or injury. Park distance control lets you fight in those tight urban parking spots without the risk of a fender bender or minor crash.

Same Great Engine, Less Onboard Equipment

In an attempt to provide alternative fuel vehicles to a wider audience of consumers, Volkswagen recently announced a new edition of the popular e-Golf. Called the Limited Edition, the new e-Golf is $2,000 less than the previously lowest priced model. Although it has the same great engine and styling, Volkswagen was able to cut the price by changing out the wheels, providing a cloth interior instead of leatherette and replacing the halogen headlights with LED lamps. The new e-Golf will be available to lease for $229 a month plus fees to qualified buyers when it arrives later this year at Chapman Volkswagen.

Inexpensive Doesn’t Mean Cheap

Although VW is cutting out a few of the luxuries, the new e-Golf is still loaded with plenty of features that consumers come to expect from the German carmaker. A DC fast charging system means you can have the vehicle restored to 80 percent power in just 30 minutes. A choice of Normal, Eco or Eco+ driving modes lets you select whether you want optimum energy efficiency or quicker performance. Just remember that the more efficient the vehicle runs, the less oomph you’ll have to merge into freeway traffic. Keyless entry, pushbutton start, navigation and dual-zone climate control are some other popular features that come standard in the new e-Golf Limited package. A rearview camera, daytime running lamps and parking assistance are just some of the safety features included in the vehicle.

e-Golf Rated Most Efficient Vehicle in U.S.

With figures like 126 miles per gallon in the city and 105 on the highway, it’s no surprise that the Environmental Protection Agency selected the e-Golf as the most energy efficient vehicle in the country. The entire Golf line was selected by “Motor Trend” magazine as the “Best Car to Buy in 2015” for many reasons, including styling, handling and fuel efficiency. The new e-Golf is a good choice for commuters, delivering 83 miles of range and a speedy recharge system. Don’t Look for the Gas Tank

To lighten the weight of the vehicle and because they are unnecessary, the e-Golf has no gas tank, transmission or standard engine. In their place is an 85-kilowatt motor that uses a direct reduction gear drive to propel the front wheels. This well-engineered arrangement leaves plenty of legroom in the cabin for four adult passengers, making this a perfect ride-share car.

Lease Promotion Expiration Fills Dealership Inventory

With the expiration of Volkswagen’s 2-year sign and drive promotion coming up, dealerships can expect a wealth of good, low-mileage used vehicles to come available. Although last year showed a dip in certified used car sales, that was because it was an in-between year where lease returns were lower than average. January of 2015 already showed a 17 percent increase from the previous year, setting a record for certified used Volkswagen sales. Chapman Volkswagen has a large inventory of low-mileage used vehicles that come with the benefits of the Volkswagen certified used car guarantee.

Benefits of VW Certified Pre-owned Vehicles

All certified pre-owned Volkswagens must be no older than six model years and have less than 75,000 miles. Volkswagen includes a 2-year, 24,000 mile warranty on all certified pre-owned vehicles, including 2 years of free roadside assistance. The warranty covers the engine, steering, axles, manual transmission, electrical components, heating, air conditioning, brakes, torque converter and all material or manufacturing defects. All certified pre-owned Volkswagens also receive a 112-point inspection that includes examining the engine for knocking and vibration, checking for transmission performance and examining the brakes and all other safety items. The dealer also takes this opportunity to catch the vehicle up on all scheduled maintenance, ensuring you purchase a car that is ready to go for many more miles.

Financial Advantages of Buying CPO

Although there is nothing like that new car smell, the financial advantages of buying a certified pre-owned Volkswagen are substantial. Purchasing a car with 10,000 to 20,000 miles means that someone else has taken the brunt of depreciation that comes whenever a new vehicle is driven off the lot. With the peace-of-mind that comes with an included CARFAX report, you know whether or not your vehicle has been in an accident or comes with the baggage of a salvage title. Most certified pre-owned  Volkswagens still have a substantial amount of factory warranty remaining, which means any problems that do arise will be handled quickly and efficiently. Do yourself a favor and drive both a certified pre-owned  and new VW on your next trip to Chapman Volkswagen, then decide if that wonderful smell is worth the added dollars.

VW Offers Warranty on Other Brands

If you happen to find another used vehicle brand you fall in love with, ask about the Quality Pre-Owned program for non-Volkswagen cars. VW offers a 1-year or 12,000 mile warranty on eligible vehicles including the same 112-point inspection carried out on used VWs. Roadside assistance and a 3-month trial to SiriusXM Satellite Radio are also included in the package.
