All-wheel Drive Model Based on SportWagen

If you’re looking for a vehicle that’s more than capable of travelling off-road while providing a fun and sporty daily driver, wait until this fall and head to Chapman VW Scottsdale to see the all-new 2017 VW Golf Alltrack. Based on the design of the Golf SportWagen, the Alltrack will provide a sportier driving experience than traditional off-road SUVs. “We heard from dealers and customers that they wanted to see a Golf SportWagen with the all-terrain capability that comes from an all-wheel drive system,” according to Volkswagen of America vice president Joerg Sommer. “We are excited to introduce the Golf Alltrack to meet the active lifestyle needs of our customers.”

4MOTION All-wheel Drive Key to Off-road Survival

VW’s patented 4MOTION all-wheel drive system acts as a front-wheel drive vehicle during normal operation, but as soon as it feels the wheels losing traction, it delivers up to 50 percent of available power to the rear axle. Electronic differential locks on both axles work with electronic stability control to keep you in charge and your vehicle moving forward, whether you’re on ice and snow or traversing a rocky trail. By briefly applying the brakes to a wheel that is slipping, the 4MOTION system enables a transfer of power to the wheel on the opposite side. Additionally, the Alltrack delivers almost an additional inch of ground clearance as opposed to the SportWagen. Choose “Off-road Mode” from the drive selector and you get the benefit of hill descent control, which helps when maneuvering down steep trails

More Aggressive Look Differentiates Alltrack

With beefier cladding, strong bumpers and side sill protection, the Alltrack is built for conditions that other small vehicles may not want to encounter. This good-looking vehicle integrates a special honeycomb grille surrounded by foglights for an aggressive off-road look. Silver details and roof rails provide a sophisticated touch. The interior of the Alltrack is very upscale, with leatherette seating, aluminum foot pedals and badging that makes this special wagon unique. Ambient lighting and a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system adds to the luxurious feel.

Safety Systems Help Protect Precious Cargo

The attention to safety includes at least six airbags, stability control and a post-collision braking system that helps minimize damage in the event of a wreck. Other available safety systems include forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane assist and park assist. Golf Keeps Cruising Along

As the crown jewel of the automaker’s lineup, the Volkswagen Golf continues to impress both consumers and auto journalists. The Golf has made “Car and Driver” magazine’s “10Best” list for 10 consecutive years. Calling the Golf a “true world car,” the editors at “Car and Driver” say the Golf works as well in the heart of Texas as it does in Germany. A devotion to detail and an assembly line process that minimizes the shake, rattle and roll of other small cars puts the Golf at the top of the list of affordable, fun commuter vehicles. Test drive the latest version of the Golf today at Chapman VW Scottsdale.

Golf Comes in Variety of Configurations

One of the best things about a Golf is that it provides so many options. From the basic modern hatchback, the Golf has evolved into the sporty GTI, the uber performance Golf R and now the all-electric e-Golf. No matter which model you choose, the Volkswagen Golf is an urban enjoyment vehicle, providing plenty of room for people and cargo with the zip and maneuverability of a small sports car. The Golf comes with a 1.8L turbocharged engine that delivers 170 horsepower. Large 17-inch wheels give you plenty of bit to hug those tight corners or beat the competition to the last parking spot in front of the coffee shop. Volkswagen focuses the interior design on the driver, putting all controls in an ergonomic layout within a finger’s reach.

Not Only Fun, But Safe As Well

The 2016 Volkswagen Golf is loaded with available safety features that help you and your precious cargo arrive at your destination unharmed. Front assist includes a forward collision warning system that first warns you of trouble, then takes over the braking if you fail to react quickly enough. Blind spot monitoring keeps you aware of those drivers who lurk in problem areas, and rear traffic alert helps by letting you know something’s about to pass by your rear bumper. Lane assist, park assist, adaptive cruise control and park pilot help keep those fender benders at bay.
