Van Lovers Rejoice at Possible Comeback

Those who love the original VW Bus are rejoicing at the latest concept vehicle to make its appearance at the Detroit Auto Show. Named the I.D. Buzz Concept, the Volkswagen design hearkens back to a time when a driver’s only worry was if he or she could come up with 29 cents for a gallon of gas. Although the Buzz resembles the old VW bus in design, it is light years away in technology. The Buzz is a zero emissions versatile electric vehicle designed for the future, offering a compelling design to the possibilities the next decade will bring. Stay in touch with Chapman Volkswagen Scottsdale to see if and when the latest version of the Bus will be available for sale.

VW Shooting for 2020 Electric Assault

Volkswagen is working toward a new “electric offensive” in the year 2020 with a wide variety of electric vehicles available for sale. They haven’t confirmed that the Buzz will be part of that lineup, but with an electric range of up to 270 miles and seating for 8, there’s a good chance it would be welcomed by an SUV-loving America. “The Volkswagen brand’s big electric offensive begins in the year 2020 with a completely new vehicle architecture,” said VW Chairman of the Board Dr. Herbert Diess. “That is when we will be launching an entirely new generation of fully connected, all-electric vehicles to the market. By 2025 we want to be selling one million of these vehicles annually. We are making electric mobility the new trademark of Volkswagen.”

VW Set to ‘Make Future Real’

There’s been a lot of talk about electric vehicles and self-driving automation for a number of years, but VW is banking on its slogan “We make the future real” to show the public they are serious about changing the face of driving. By focusing on smart sustainability, automated driving, intuitive usability and creating a connected community, VW says it will overcome any reluctance Americans have toward a new mode of transportation. “The overall concept of the I.D. Buzz points the way to the future,” said VW board member Dr. Frank Welsch. “The concept vehicle is the world’s first electric multi-purpose vehicle to be equipped with a fully autonomous driving mode. It carries the feeling of freedom of the Microbus over to a completely new era of mobility.”

Chapman Home of VW Alltrack

Another recent innovation of the Volkswagen family is the 4Motion all-wheel drive Golf Alltrack, which you can test drive right now at Chapman Volkswagen Scottsdale. The Alltrack is a different take on an off-road vehicle, offering the looks, sophistication and driveability of the popular Golf, while providing the clearance and advanced all-wheel drive capability to go off-road.

New Version Offers More Power and Range

The latest generation of the e-Golf was recently shown to the public for the first time at the Los Angeles Auto Show, revealing a sharp uptick in power, range and new features from its predecessor. The 2017 Volkswagen e-Golf increases the range on a single charge to 124 miles, up almost 50 percent from last year’s model. The electric motor shows a jump of 19 horsepower from 2016, now producing 134 horses with 214 pound-feet of torque. This enables the new e-Golf to cut a second off its 0-60 mph time en route to a top speed of 93 mph. Keep in touch with Chapman Volkswagen to see when the new e-Golf will be making an appearance on the showroom floor.

High-tech Features Both Fun and Functional

The new VW e-Golf is loaded with high-tech features that make it a joy to drive. The optional Volkswagen Digital Cockpit displays all the instruments on a large color screen. Drivers can change the information profiles to deliver different types of data, as well as varying graphics including album art. The Discover Pro infotainment system also allows drivers and passengers to configure the home screen to their liking. The 9.2-inch color display is a totally new design. This system is geared up for the launch of a gesture control system in two years that will only take a swipe or a pinch to move through the menus and pick the music or function you want to use. Remote access remains a part of the e-Golf suite of features, letting you use your smart phone to locate your car, start the battery charging, lock and unlock doors, etc.

More Driver Assistance Safety Features This Year

Drivers of the 2017 VW e-Golf will have access to more driver assistance safety features than ever, including pedestrian monitoring added to the Forward Collision Warning system. If your vehicle is in danger of striking a person, the e-Golf will first warn you both audibly and visually, then apply the brakes if you fail to react. Choose the optional Drive Assistance Package and you’ll receive the digital cockpit, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian monitoring, blind spot monitoring, lane assist, light assist and park assist.

Design Changes Feature LED Lights

Along with more power and features, the 2017 Volkswagen e-Golf also includes a new look with redesigned bumpers and fenders along with LED headlights, tail lights and daytime running lights. The running lights are integrated into the new bumper, creating a seamless front end with a sharp, modern look. The new e-Golf, a technological marvel with extended range, will be making its debut at Chapman Volkswagen in the near future.
