With all the buzz generated from the announcement that Volkswagen is bringing back an electrified version of its iconic bus in the upcoming I.D. BUZZ vehicle, the company created even more of a stir with the news that the I.D. CROZZ, a compact electric SUV, will precede the arrival of the BUZZ. “The I.D. CROZZ-based electric vehicle will be an affordable and stylish electric SUV – and there is more to come!” according to VW CEO Hinrich J. Woebcken. “The I.D. CROZZ and the I.D. BUZZ will help Volkswagen to kick off an EV revolution in the United States. All of our I.D. concept cars demonstrate the inherent flexibility, driving range and smart design that can serve the needs of 21st century drivers.” The I.D. CROZZ will be coming to Chapman Volkswagen Scottsdale in 2020, followed by the I.D. BUZZ in 2022.

Represents the Future of Transportation

From the ability to drive itself to voice-activated trunk and doors, the I.D. CROZZ is the future of modern transportation. About the same size as today’s Tiguan but with more interior space, the I.D. CROZZ utilizes a powerful 83 kWh lithium-ion battery module to run two electric motors, one placed on both the front and rear axles. The motors combine for a healthy output of 302 horsepower and range of up to 300 miles on a single charge. The ID CROZZ will utilize VW’s patented 4MOTION all-wheel drive system to provide maximum control in all types of conditions. When cruising, the rear motor will work alone. Once the system senses wheel slippage, the front motor kicks in to provide power all around.

Wake Up to a Light Show

The I.D. CROZZ will definitely be the coolest vehicle in your neighborhood. You’ll eagerly anticipate your morning commute as it starts with a light show every time you wake up your vehicle. First the VW logos in front and back will light up, extending a line to the headlights and running lights. Once they shine on, the vehicle is ready to go. You’ll appreciate the doors opening extra wide – up to 90 degrees – for easy entry and exit. The unusually roomy interior is big enough to put in an adult bicycle behind the front seats, but the main benefit will be for head and legroom for the passengers. Quilted seating surfaces provide an extra layer of comfort. With the autonomous driving mode activated, the steering wheel retracts providing a lounge-like atmosphere for relaxing and conversing with passengers. If all this sounds like it’s light years away, remember that 2020 is coming sooner than you think. When it comes to urban legends, the VW Golf might not be up there with the scuba diver who was dropped in the middle of a forest during a firefight or the one-armed man with a hook who only seems to come around during kids’ camping trips. However, when it comes to delivering a fun drive in a vehicle that’s built to haul people and a surprising amount of stuff, the Golf has proven itself more than capable of being the perfect urban commuter vehicle. As a fun hatchback, the Golf is surprisingly affordable with a peppy 1.8L turbo engine that delivers 36 mpg on the highway. It comes loaded with technology and a list of positive reviews that would make a super model blush. See why the Golf remains at the top of many “best cars” lists when you visit Chapman Volkswagen in Scottsdale.

Choose from Two Trim Packages

Although the Golf includes a lineup that offers a racing version, electric version and two wagons, the base Golf delivers four trim packages that are designed for people on a budget who demand a great driving experience. The base S model starts at just $19,895, yet still comes with a leather-wrapped, multi-function steering wheel, rear view camera and a 6.5-inch color touchscreen infotainment system. Heated side mirrors and sporty 15-inch Lyon wheel add to the amenities. You’ll stay connected to the outside world with the Volkswagen Car-Net suite of services. The Wolfsburg edition starts at $21,595, but for that little bit of extra money you receive a ton of extra features. Open the sunroof on nice days or to let the stars in at night. Don’t worry if there’s a bit of a chill in the air, the heated front seats will keep you toasty. It also has V-tex leatherette seating surfaces, push button start, keyless access and autonomous emergency braking to help you avoid collisions. Both models have a long line of accessories to help you personalize your new VW Golf. Choose the upscale SE or SEL and you get an automatic transmission standard. Automatics are optional on both the S and Wolfsburg editions.
