Atlas Earns Top Safety Pick Rating

The new VW Atlas, a behemoth in the full-size SUV market, was recently awarded the Top Safety Pick ranking from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). When equipped with forward collision warning and autonomous emergency braking, the new Atlas scored “Good” ratings in five test categories. “Volkswagen’s commitment to safety and driver assistance technology is unwavering. We take great responsibility to ensure our driver assistance technologies get smarter,” according to VW VP Hendrik Muth. “The Atlas is an example of our ongoing commitment to offering these features, and we are proud it has been recognized as an IIHS 2017 Top Safety Pick.” The new VW Atlas is in stock and ready to test drive today at Chapman Volkswagen Scottsdale.

Atlas Offers Post Collision Braking

Based on the premise that a collision is a series of ongoing events and not a single blow, VW offers automatic post-collision braking on all trim levels of the new Atlas. The system detects a primary collision and then automatically applies the brakes, reducing the chance of further damage. The VW Atlas also offers other automatic driver assistance systems, including lane departure warning, front and rear park distance control, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and parking steering assistant. An overhead view camera provides a 360-degree view around your vehicle, lessening the chance you’ll run over any hidden obstacles.

Personalize Your Information Display

The Atlas offers the 12.3 inch VW Digital Cockpit, which personalizes important vehicle information for a wide variety of settings. You can store four different profiles in memory, so it always displays your selected information at the touch of a button. Choose the wide map navigation option and your route and destination are displayed widely in your field of view, allowing you to stay focused on the road while you concentrate on not getting lost. The VW color touchscreen sound system puts all your audio controls and communication needs at a touch of the finger away. Connect it to your smartphone to stream your favorite music or podcasts, or take advantage of a free three-month SiriusXM satellite radio connection for a world of entertainment.

Choice of Two Engines

Right now, the only choice for the VW Atlas is a powerful 276 horsepower V6 that offers 5,000 pounds of towing capacity while still earning 25 mpg on the highway. A 2.0L turbocharged engine is coming later this year, with a little less horsepower but greater efficiency. Test drive the new VW Atlas today when you visit Chapman Volkswagen Scottsdale.
